What does family reunification actually mean for you?
If your partner, spouse, or parent holds a Red-White-Red Card or EU Blue Card in Austria, you can join them through family reunification (Familienzusammenführung). The permit you receive is called the Red-White-Red Card Plus. No points assessment, no job offer needed — your right to be here is based on your relationship. Who can apply for family reunification?
- You are the spouse or registered partner of a Red-White-Red Card holder
- You are the spouse or registered partner of an EU Blue Card holder
- You are a dependent child under 18 of an Red-White-Red Card or EU Blue Card holder
- The sponsor has adequate housing for the whole family
- The sponsor meets the legal income threshold

No. The Red-White-Red Card Plus through family reunification does not require a job offer. Your right to be in Austria is based on your family relationship, not your employment. You can look for work after you arrive.
